AWBS Planting Topsoil is a high quality, consistent, free flowing sandy loam soil. Dark greyish brown in colour, Planting soil is friable with low stone content and consists of a fine to medium granular structure that makes it ideal for general landscaping purposes such as planting, topdressing, turfing, beds and borders. Screened with a Ph of 7.5 – 8.2 it is ideal for plants and seeds preferring slightly alkaline soils. Available to buy in half bulk or jumbo bulk bags - see our bag size guide below. Please note - All AWBS sustainable topsoils are a blend of soil, clay, silt and sand and are certified to PAS 100, the widely recognised standard that deals with recycled organic material. Reycled green waste and compost is often added to topsoils to improve the nutrient content, however this does mean that very occasionally small particles of plastic, stone or glass may be visible. This will not affect the performance of the material in any way. These elements are purely visual and the material is always chemically clean. This product is sold by volume, not weight. Bulk bags contain approximately .54m³ (500 litres).

Coverage and volume

AWBS Planting Topsoil is available to purchase in half bulk bag or jumbo bulk bag. Please note it is advisable to have topsoil at least 100mm deep when laying turf. 

• A half bulk bag has an approximate cubic volume of .27m³ and will cover approximately 5-6m² at a depth of 50mm.
• A full jumbo bulk bag has an approximate cubic volume of .54m³ and will cover approximately 10-12m² at a depth of 50mm.

An ideal solution for any planting scheme

AWBS Planting Topsoil is consistent and friable, which means it will break down and will be easy to rake over and spread. It also means that this soil will create a good foundation for the success of most plants as the crumbly texture will help to promote good root growth. The sandy loam makeup of the soil will ensure good drainage, making it ideal for a multitude of planting schemes. AWBS Planting Topsoil is certified to British Standard 3882 as a multipurpose topsoil. This certification ensures that the soil has passed specific analysis parameters concerning fertility, soil structure and being free from contamination. The soil is adequately supplied with organic matter and all major nutrients that are ideal for strong plant growth. The current Ph is 7.9.
