Softwood Sleepers make creating attractive and robust garden features and raised beds quick and easy. Produced from ethically sourced spruce and pine, our softwood garden sleepers are available in natural ‘green’ timber or brown stained finish, pressure treated with preservative for durability.
Measuring 2.4m in length and available in 195x95mm (WxH) size, these smaller sized sleepers are ideal for jobs where you require a slightly thinner sleeper and they make creating garden features cheap and simple. Please note - All dimensions are nominal and may differ slightly due to timber tolerances. Please contact your local branch for exact dimensions.
What can you do with softwood sleepers?
The great thing about softwood sleepers is their versatility. They can be laid flat and used as edgings or stacked and interlocked like bricks to create attractive raised beds, patio planters, steps and garden seating but are strong enough for building retaining walls. Being rough sawn, softwood sleepers have a lovely natural texture and age beautifully, but their uniform size and straight edges make them equally at home in rustic and contemporary gardens. Timber Products
Most timber products are prone to warping, cracking, twisting, splitting and weathering, however this is NOT a manufacturing fault but a natural process that can occur
when the moisture content in the wood changes unevenly, usually due to seasonal changes, weather and air humidity. Timber has a natural tolerance in terms of how much it can expand and contract and the timber will normally return to its previous form when the weather stabilises. AWBS also recommend that new pressure treated timber products are not painted, treated or primed when new as this can cause issues with warping, cracking and peeling. The wood should be left a number of months to completely dry out before any product is applied.

A delivery service you can trust
At AWBS, our local deliveries are carried out using our own dedicated fleet of vehicles, operated by our experienced and fully trained delivery drivers, meaning a safe and efficient service. Keeping deliveries in-house means we maintain full control over handling, scheduling and service quality from the moment your order leaves us to the point it is delivered to you.
For larger or heavier materials, we typically use crane offload lorries, allowing controlled unloading on site and, where possible, placing your goods where you need them, helping to reduce manual handling on site. For smaller orders that do not require crane offload, we operate a fleet of flatbed vans that provide a flexible and reliable solution. This mixed vehicle fleet allows us to tailor each delivery to the type and size of your order, ensuring a smooth, professional service for both domestic and trade customers.
