Earned Recognition Scheme Award For AWBS
At AWBS Building and Landscaping Supplies we’re delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded founder members status of the new government Earned Recognition Scheme – the only builders merchants in the UK to do so!
The Driver Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Earned Recognition Scheme is a new way for organisations with lorries, buses and coaches to prove they meet driver and vehicle standards. Only 60 companies have been approved across the whole of the UK, so we’re exceptionally proud to be one of them!
The highest possible driver and vehicle standards
The new scheme is a way to prove that companies meet driver and vehicle standards, demonstrating that we’re the cream of HGV vehicle operators. At the end of April 2018, AWBS General Manager, Wyatt Tait, and Fleet Transport Manager, Simon Hunt, received the award at the press launch at the NEC. This accolade is something we’re absolutely thrilled with, as we’re the only builders merchants in the entire UK to have this prestigious accreditation to our name.
The Earned Recognition Scheme requires the highest possible standards, based on driver hour compliance and vehicle service and maintenance. In order for AWBS to gain this prestigious award, we had to demonstrate that we meet these exceptionally high standards. This was done through an audit of our transport management system and record keeping, the economical and environmental impact of the use of our vehicles and our driver performance. To make sure we maintain these standards, our systems regularly send data to the DVSA.
The AWBS fleet of vehicles
Each of our three branches in Swindon, Oxford and Yarnton runs crane lorries, to ensure our customers can enjoy quick deliveries. The size of these lorries varies, depending on the access at each depot. Our fleet of 29 vehicles includes the following:
- 2 artics with trailers
- 12 specialist brick crane lorries
- 3 tipper vans
- A range of vans for our landscape contractors
